Summer Activities

There are numerous Zermatt summer activities to enjoy during the summer and autumn months. In addition to the extensive walking, hiking, mountain biking and mountaineering possibilities, there are a number of less common Zermatt summer activities which we and our guests enjoy in Zermatt.

The Mountain Exposure Concierge Team when staying in one of our chalets, would be glad to advise you and help book any or all of the Zermatt summer activities listed below.

Zermatt summer activities and sport for most ages:

Skiing and Snowboarding – The summer and autumn skiing is extensive: 1 cable-car, 6 ski-lifts and 1 six-man chair cover 21km of pistes and 1,000 vertical metres of natural snow. There is also a superb fun-park with a half-pipe, numerous kickers, boxes and other jibs.

Mountain Lake Swimming – There are a dozen small lakes around Zermatt’s mountains. Best for swimming are the Leisee lake (next to Sunnegga) and the Grunsee lake.

Forest tree top fun park – There is an extensive fun park consisting of long fly wires and a series of tree top obstacles. Routes of varying levels of difficulty may be selected, starting with kids aged four and up, to experts, all with the safety of a harness and fixed line.

Beach volley ball – The tournament grade sand pitch is in the centre of the village

Downhill Trailscooter – Take one of these scooters with big soft tyres in the cable-car up to Schwarzsee and speed back down the mountain trails to the valley, as often as you can in one day. The ultimate challenge for thrill seekers.

Kick-Bike at Sunnegga – You can rent the popular kick-bike scooters, including  helmet, at the Sunnegga valley station, and then speed down to Zermatt via Tuftern.  A wayside halt at one of the attractive restaurants is almost compulsory.  The kick-bikes can be returned at the bottom station after your adventurous downhill ride. You can also enjoy a break at Ried or Othmar’s Hütte with a refreshing (non-alcoholic) drink or ice cream before you continue your journey down. Prices from 18.- CHF per adult.

Waterskiing lake Schalisee– The waterskiing lift (Rixen Little Bro 2.0) has a length of 109 m. Sustainability plays an important role in this project. The electric powered lift is quiet and environmentally friendly, and it will be completely dismantled in autumn. Water skis, wakeboards and swimming aids are available.
