"Le Petit Village" is based on a type of village which exists on many mountainsides in the valleys of the Valais. The individual buildings face toward the south in order to make optimal use of the view and of the angle of the sun. Access to the houses is via an inclined elevator from the riverside road river; which can be reached by car. This is as close to a drive-in, drive-out property as one can get in Zermatt. The chalet may also be reached from higher up on a main road by foot or by electro taxi without the use of tunnel. The chalet is located in an area that may be reached by ski during the winter although ski-in access is for advanced skiers only at present and involves taking a shortcut off the marked trail. This shortcut is used by many of the local "petit village" residents. There are plans for this chalet have direct ski run access in winter from 2009 although this has not yet been confirmed.
