Saas Fee's skiing is perfect for all levels. Beginners have a large and gentle area right next to the village, which means that they don't have to travel up the mountain and non-skiers can watch and share in the fun.
Intermediates are extremely well-served with over 100km of perfectly groomed runs and fascinating terrain variety. Experts have a small and perfectly shaped dedicated mountain served by the Plattjen lift, whose yellow (black level itinerary) runs are beautifully mogulled and scenic too, while the groomed runs are smooth, steep racer's delights. This is where Olympic gold champion Pirmin Zurbriggen learned his skills. Given the big snowfalls that Saas Fee gets, there is outstanding off-piste skiing, for which we recommend hiring a guide, because much of the terrain is on glaciers.
Saas Fee also has one of the world's biggest snow-parks with half-pipes, jumps, rails and all the kickers that kids and teens love, whether on snowboard or on skis. There is a lively youth scene both on and off the slopes. It is worth noting that kids up to 9 years of age ski for free, children from 10-14 get a 45% discount, and teens from 16-18 get a 15% discount.
If you would like additional variety, for an extra 35 CHF on your week ski pass, you can get a ski pass for the whole of the Saas valley, which will give you access to Saas Grund and Saas Almagell ski areas too, which are a 10-15 minute bus ride away.
Right next to our chalets is the base station of the Hannig gondola, which takes you to the top of a dedicated 6km toboggan (sled) run. There is also the 11km Kreuzboden run in Saas Grund. Both are perfect family fun.
